Emerton knows that the Necron Classics can rob him of his powers. To prevent this, he locked the artifact with the Key of the Dead. Banno was once a tomb robber and, by a stroke of luck, was able to steal the key. He is willing to exchange it with you for another valuable item.

fears most! But... you need this key here, yes? You
see, I was once a tomb robber. I happened upon
Emerton's burial chamber during my last run and
found the key. At the time, I only knew that it was
valuable. It wasn't until later that I found out that it
was used by Emerton to seal the Necron Classics.
Listen, I'm willing to do business with you. Ill give
you the key if you can get me something else thats
just as valuable. This might be the key to saving
the world, but at least I'm going to get something
out of it.
